Toronto Pearson Terminal 1 vs Terminal 3: Airlines, Pickup Points and Getting Between Them

Air Canada flies from Terminal 1, and WestJet and Porter from Terminal 3, but the full list has a few surprises. Here is every airline at Toronto Pearson by terminal, where your chauffeur meets you, and what to do at the wrong one.

Toronto Pearson Airport Terminal

Quick answer

Terminal 1 is Air Canada’s home at Toronto Pearson, shared with most of its Star Alliance partners, including United, Lufthansa, Swiss and Turkish Airlines, plus Emirates and Etihad. Terminal 3 handles WestJet, Porter, Flair, Air Transat, Delta, American, British Airways, KLM, Air France and most other carriers. Always go by the airline operating your flight, not the one that sold you the ticket.

Toronto Pearson (YYZ) has two passenger terminals, and they are not next door to each other. Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 are separate buildings, linked by a train, with separate check-in halls, separate security lines and separate arrivals areas. Turn up at the wrong one and you lose time you probably do not have.

The good news is that the rule is simple once you know it. Below is every airline at Pearson by terminal, taken from the airport’s own airline directory in September 2026. After that we cover where your driver meets you, what to do if you are at the wrong terminal, and whether the terminal changes what an airport limo to Pearson costs.

Which airlines use Terminal 1 at Pearson?

Terminal 1 is the larger terminal and Air Canada’s hub. Most of the airlines that share it are Air Canada’s Star Alliance partners, plus a few others such as Emirates, Etihad, ITA Airways and Royal Air Maroc.

  • Air Canada (AC)
  • Air China (CA)
  • Air India (AI)
  • Air North (4N)

Porter also flies from Billy Bishop, the downtown island airport. If your ticket says YTZ rather than YYZ, you are not going to Pearson at all — our Toronto airport taxi and limo page prices both airports side by side.

The codeshare trap: go by the operating airline

Airlines sell seats on each other’s flights all the time. The flight number on your ticket belongs to the airline that sold it, but the terminal belongs to the airline that flies it. Your booking confirmation or boarding pass will say “operated by” somewhere near the flight number. That is the airline to look up in the lists above.

If you are still unsure, check the flight on the airport’s departures board the day before, or give us the flight number when you book. We check it against the terminal before the car leaves.

Where your chauffeur meets you at each terminal

Arriving at Terminal 1

Your chauffeur waits inside the Arrivals hall on Level 1, opposite the exit from customs, holding a sign with your name. You do not need to go to the curb or look for a pickup zone.

Arriving at Terminal 3

Your chauffeur waits in the Arrivals area beside the currency exchange, again with a name sign.

At both terminals we track your flight from the number you gave us, so a delay moves the pickup automatically. You get 60 minutes of free waiting from touchdown on international arrivals and 30 minutes on domestic ones. That covers customs, the baggage belt and the walk out.

Departing from either terminal

Your chauffeur drops you at the departures curb of the right terminal for your airline. Tell us the airline when you book, and if a codeshare makes it unclear, the flight number too.

Wrong terminal? How to get between Terminal 1 and Terminal 3

Pearson’s Terminal Link train connects Terminal 1, Terminal 3 and the Viscount station, and it is free to ride. The train itself is quick. What takes time is everything around it: finding the station, waiting, then walking to check-in at the other end. Allow a comfortable margin, especially at peak times.

If you are at the wrong terminal close to departure, go straight to the train and contact your airline on the way. Check-in and bag drop close well before the flight. Air Canada, for example, closes both 60 minutes before departure on every route.

The easier fix is not to need it. Confirm your terminal the night before, and tell your driver.

Does the terminal change your limo fare?

Barely. We priced the same trip from Union Station to each terminal through our booking engine, and the difference is one or two dollars, because Terminal 3 is a slightly longer drive. From downtown Toronto, a flat-rate transfer to Pearson is $125 in a sedan, $161 in an SUV and $202 in the Executive SUV, with the airport fee included.

UP Express, taxi or limo from Pearson?

The UP Express train to Union Station leaves from Terminal 1. Passengers landing at Terminal 3 take the Terminal Link train across first. For one person with a carry-on heading downtown, the train is hard to beat.

It gets less convenient once you add a family, four suitcases, an address that is not near a station, or a flight that lands after a long day. That is where a flat-rate car earns its fare. You are met inside the terminal, the bags go straight into the vehicle, and the car takes you to your door. Read more about how the options compare on our Toronto airport limo service page.

A checklist before you leave for Pearson

  1. Find the operating airline on your booking and match it to Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 above.
  2. Work back from departure time. Aim to be at the terminal 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before a US or international one, then add your drive time.
  3. Count the bags, not just the people. A sedan takes three passengers and two large cases. An SUV or Escalade takes six passengers and four.
  4. Give us your flight number on arrivals so we can track the aircraft rather than the timetable.
  5. Save your chauffeur’s name and number. They arrive the day before your trip.
